2011 Sleigh Ride and Winter Festival

November 28th, 2011

On Tuesday, December 6th from 6:30 – 9:00 pm, we will be having our annual sleigh ride:

  • The sleigh will be leaving from the pool parking lot.
  • We will be serving hot chocolate and some goodies.
  • We will have a special visit from Santa!

There are plenty of volunteer opportunities, especially with clean-up. Those who volunteer for clean-up and creating luminaries will get on one of the first sleigh rides of the night. Here is the volunteer web site: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0B45ABAB2B0-brookstone

New this year – we will be having a FOOD DRIVE, so please bring some food to help feed the hungry and homeless in the Raleigh area. Below are some of the most urgent needs. Please, do not bring any glass jars!

  • Coffee
  • Sugar
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned peas, potatoes, mixed vegetables
  • Canned pork & beans, baked beans, chili & beans
  • Canned ravioli
  • Olive oil
  • Grits
  • Instant mashed potatoes

If you have any questions, please email me or give me a call.
See you at the Sleigh!

BBQ Rescheduled to Sunday August 28, 5 to 7PM

August 25th, 2011

Due to the uncertainty of the weather on Saturday, we are moving the BBQ to Sunday, August 28. It will still run from 5-7. No RSVPs are necessary at this point. We do understand that some people may not be able to come due to the change in day.

Main course food and beverage is provided (see details). Please remember to bring your appetizer or dessert in a non-breakable container. No glass of any type is allowed at the pool.

VOLUNTEERS: If you signed up and CANNOT volunteer, please remove your name from the sign up genius. If you can still volunteer do nothing but show up on Sunday for your time slot.

Please feel free to share this information with your neighbors in Brookstone. It will be helpful to get the word out. Posts will be placed on the Brookstone board and Yahoo board but that does not reach everyone.

Brookstone Summer BBQ (August 27, 5 to 7PM)

August 15th, 2011

The Brookstone Social Committee is proud to announce that the 3rd annual Brookstone BBQ (and other) Food Festival will be held at the Brookstone Community Pool on Saturday, August 27th, from 5PM to 7PM.

The Social Committee will supply:

  • Main Course – pulled pork, smoked chicken and hot dogs
  • Sides – potato salad, coleslaw and mac & cheese (TBD/confirming exact list)

You must do the following:

  • Each family must RSVP to ensure we can adequately plan for the main course dishes.
  • Each family that attends needs to bring an appetizer or dessert.
  • A vegetarian option is available; let us know if you need the vegetarian option when you RSVP.

Please RSVP by August 19th to Ellen Schwerer: schwerer@bellsouth.net or 303-2831; indicate how many will attend (adults and children) and if you plan to consume the meat or need a non-meat main course offering (how many).

Apologies for the short notice; the yahoo notice went out a while ago, and you should have seen a flier left at your home. We’re just getting to this form of communication.

Also (late breaking news):
We are in need of some volunteers for the BBQ event. If you wouldn’t mind giving about 20-30 minutes of your time, we would really appreciate it.

March 25th, 2011

Our Community Yard Sale will be held on April 30th from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.  We will be advertising the event and putting up signs the day of the event so the prospectors can find us!  What is required on your part?  Have your items out and ready for sale.  If it rains, we will hold the yard sale on May 7th

Ladies, leave your cares behind and come mingle with fellow Brookstone women on Thursday, April 7th.  We will be meeting at 7:30 pm at Tyler’s Tap Room in Beaver Creek Crossings.
