The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) is currently evaluating a proposal to relocate its offices to the vacant Kroger property in West Park Place at the corner of High House Road and Highway 55.
Information regarding the planned relocation can be found here at the Town of Cary’s website. http://www.townofcary.org/Departments/Administration/pio/factsheet-caryice.htm
We believe that the Kroger Property is not an appropriate location for the proposed ICE facility. It is inconsistent with the retail and residential nature of the area.
The General Services Administration has stopped it’s site selection process until July 20 in order to address community concerns.
There will be a community meeting at 5 PM on July 14 at the Green Hope Elementary School gymnasium, 2750 Louis Stephens Drive in Cary. Representatives from the General Services Administration, as well as the Department of Homeland Security, will be on hand to update citizens and answer questions.
Please act now and contact your federal elected officials prior to July 15 and let them know that you oppose the location of this facility here.
