Important Update: Brookstone Summer BBQ – August 28; 5-7PM

August 24th, 2010

Hi everyone!

Please read closely if you are coming to the BBQ/Food Fest at the pool on Saturday.

1) We are going to have a very full house on Saturday! There will not be enough chairs at the pool. If you would like a guarantee of a chair, please consider bringing your own.

2) Please, NO GLASS DISHES AT THE POOL!!! Bring your appetizer or dessert in a non-breakable dish/container. This is extremely important! Last year the pool had to be closed for several days due to broken glass.

3) If your appetizer or dessert requires a serving utensil of some sort, please bring your own. We will not be providing any serving utensils.

4) The event will be held rain or shine.

Thanks,

Ellen – Social Committee Member

Notice of Town of Cary’s Intent to Enforce Parking Regulations

August 4th, 2010

The Brookstone Board has been contacted by the Cary Police Department regarding the parking situation in Brookstone. They took a look at our neighborhood based on complaints they have received from some homeowners.

The Board was informed that, starting this Saturday (August 7), the Town of Cary Police will be patrolling the neighborhood and enforcing the Town of Cary street parking ordinances.

This is what we have been told regarding the type of violations they will be looking for:

  • Vehicles parked within 15 feet of any mailbox Monday through Saturday from 9am – 5pm
  • Vehicles parked within 15 feet of a Stop sign at anytime 24 hours a day
  • Trailers such as boat or utility trailers that are unhitched from a vehicle and left on the street
  • Vehicles that are further than 12″ (inches) from the curb
  • Vehicles in the cul-de-sacs that are parked straight-on facing houses rather than being parked along the curb
(during a drive through they noticed this in multiple cul-de-sacs)

The Town of Cary Police provided this link to the applicable parking ordinances:

Sections 34-94 through 34-114 seem to be applicable to our community streets.
