2012 Annual Meeting Notice

March 21st, 2012 by webmaster No comments »

The Brookstone Community Association Annual Homeowners Meeting will be held this year on Thursday, April 19th at Hope Chapel in Apex.

There will be three positions open for election at this years Annual Meeting. The Board was increased to seven members at the 2009 Annual Meeting. The election schedule then became two positions in the first year, five in the second and none in the third. The Board of Directors felt that the community would be best served if elections were held every year instead of two out of three. There are more opportunities for participation and the Board is more accountable to homeowners when the elections are more frequent. To achieve a more even distribution of elected positions, the Board has unanimously voted to leave the two positions that were added in 2009 unfilled until April 2013.

The three year terms of Directors Vincent Kressevich, Suresh Subramanian, Mark Varney, Pat McCarthy and Matthew Slavis will conclude following the elections at the annual meeting. I would like to thank the outgoing Board members for their hard work and dedication to all of us in Brookstone. It has been a pleasure to serve with you.

It has truly been an honor to serve our community on the Board of Directors. It has been a rewarding and memorable term, and one in which I hope you feel I have served you well. We have a wonderful community thanks to your kindness, openness and generosity. For that I thank you.

Matthew Slavis
President, Board of Directors

2012 Pool Season News

March 20th, 2012 by Matthew Slavis No comments »

The Brookstone Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Aquatic Management Group (AMG) has been retained to manage the pool effective January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2014. AMG will be responsible for management and lifeguard services, daily pool maintenance and cleaning, chemical monitoring, and pump room maintenance and repairs. The pool will open Saturday, May 19, 2012.

We are excited to announce that pool management will include the addition of two on-site adult pool managers this year. Deb Hampton, a certified pool operator, Red Cross certified life guard and Wake County Schools Teacher, has been hired and will be at the pool daily throughout the summer. She will be joined by a second adult manager and a team of lifeguards to be announced at a later date.

The salt water chlorination system in use at the pool for the last two seasons was provided at no cost through our previous pool management contract. The Board found in researching replacement systems, that the existing system may have been undersized for periods of peak pool usage and over reliant on the chemical chlorine backup system. Given the estimates ranging from $15k to $20k for a properly sized salt system, the Board decided that more research would be prudent prior to such a large purchase. The pool will be returning to a conventional chemical chlorine system for the coming pool season.

Those swimming during unstaffed pool hours will be pleased to hear that the bathrooms have been added to the entrance card access system. Swimmers during the morning adult lap swim hours will be able to access the bathrooms using their key cards. The doors will unlock automatically during swim at your own risk hours.

We are pleased to sponsor the Brookstone Barracudas again this year. For information about the team, contact Mark Carter, Swim Team President.
